How It Works
Blender
The kitchen has a Hamilton Beach blender with a 48 oz (1.25 L) jar and simple push-button speeds.
How to use
- Place the base on a clean, dry surface and set the jar on it, making sure it is securely seated.
- Add liquid ingredients first (at least 8 oz / 238 ml, up to the MIN line), then the rest. Do not fill above the 48 oz (1250 ml) fill line.
- Put the lid on securely, then plug the blender into the outlet.
- Press the speed button you need (press DICE or GRIND for those functions).
- Always keep one hand on the lid while the blender is running.
- Always turn the blender OFF and wait until the blades have stopped before removing the jar — never place the jar on the base while the motor is running.
Good to know
- Do not run the blender continuously for more than 3 minutes. If you smell a burning odor, stop immediately.
- Recipes need at least one cup (8 oz) of liquid to blend properly — add more liquid if the ingredients stop moving.
- To add ingredients while blending, remove the filler cap in the lid and drop them through the opening.
- For hot liquids, remove the filler cap, do not fill beyond the 3-cup (710 ml) level and start on the lowest speed — hot liquids can push the lid off.
- This blender is not made for mashing potatoes, mixing stiff dough, whipping egg whites, grinding raw meat, extracting juice or blending dry ingredients like grains or coffee beans.
- Do not store food or liquids in the jar.
Cleaning
- Unplug first. Wipe the base and buttons with a damp cloth — never put the cord, plug, base or motor in water.
- Wash the jar, lid and other parts in hot, soapy water (or in the dishwasher, but never on the SANITIZE cycle). The blades are very sharp — handle with care.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly; do not soak the parts. Store the blender with the lid ajar to prevent odors.
